Descending the Timber Ridge
I knotted the braided bootlace line securely around the brass bookend post, making sure my whistle was tucked snug against my chest. Bracing both boots against the shelf edge, I leaned back and stepped carefully down the wooden side panel, letting the textured cord slide smoothly through my paws. My feet touched down onto the base ledge without a stumble! Down here by the lower border, I found a clean brown cardboard shipping tag with reinforced eyelets. I slid my pencil stub through the hole and clipped it to my belt—the perfect field notebook for today's grand trek.
