A Soft Spot for Tonight
I walked back inside from the quiet sidewalk, taking off my shoes by the entryway mat. My legs felt pleasantly heavy from strolling earlier, so I climbed onto the wide corner of the living room sofa. A chunky knitted throw blanket was bunched up against the armrest. I gathered the thick yarn with both hands, folding a bulky corner underneath itself to make a sturdy little wedge. Leaning back against the soft wool, I looked out toward the warm credenza lamp and let out a relaxed sigh. It felt sensible to just unwind and do nothing at all.
