High Above the Rooftops

I slipped through the front mail flap and trotted up the cobbled slope all the way to the Derry city walls! Reaching the top of the stone steps, the whole town spread out below like a giant colorful playground. Right along the wide rampart ledge, a heavy brass viewing scope sat on a sturdy swivel base, but a folded paper map had blown into the joint, wedging tight under the metal collar and jamming the swing. I bounded straight onto the sandstone ledge, braced my boots against the rough mortar, and gave the paper roll a mighty tug with both gloved hands! Swish! It popped free, and the brass scope swung smoothly across the horizon once again! Yahoo!
