A Dried Seed Pod

I pushed past the garden screen door, letting the calm afternoon breeze brush softly against my ears. Tucked beneath the slatted wood of the trellis, a dried sweet pea pod lay resting against a flat garden stone. I paused for a quiet moment, observing its curled, brittle shell. Moving slowly, I extended one front hoof and pressed gently on its pale seam. It yielded with a crisp, hollow pop, parting open just enough to reveal three smooth, rounded peas nestled inside like tiny dark beads. I leaned close, resting my chin against the rough stone while the dry husks stayed still.
