A Sudden Rustle
Click! A wiggle in my toes! I bounced right up—whoosh! The twigs beneath me went scritch-scratch! A real sound! I made that sound! I leaned forward fast and tapped the woven nest rim with my beak. Tock-tock! It stayed steady. My wings can flap! My beak can peck! I nestled back down into the cozy dip of the nest, eyes wide in the dark, ready for the next big flutter.
