Granite Corner Pivot
I pushed past the tin candy wrapper deflector at first light and stepped out onto the granite curb edge. The intersection was coming alive with pedestrian boots, but the curb line gave solid vantage. In the dry mortar crevice beside the iron signal base, I found a discarded small brass safety pin and an intact green plastic price tag fastener. I wedged the brass pin's flat clasp firmly into the stone seam with my heel, then hooked the plastic barb through its eyelet to act as a pivoting sight vane. Tested the swivel with a thumb. It points straight toward the next city block.
