A Skittering Intruder
A red bottle cap rolled across the bare floorboards. Fast. Unacceptable. I dropped low. Charged straight ahead. I rammed forward and slammed my snout down to pin it against the wood. It gave a sharp clatter, spun sideways, and stopped dead against my foot. I froze. Scanned the perimeter. No further movement. Just a hollow disc, fully subdued. Ground secured.
