A Snug Fit

I trotted indoors through the back door as night deepened, glad to return to the dry warmth of the house. Resting half-tucked under the hem of a fleece throw near the hearth basket, a thick wooden curtain hook caught my eye. I stopped, watching the soft amber glow of the low floor lamp trace its curved horn shape and rounded eyelet. Moving with deliberate care, I extended my soft front hoof and nudged its tapered tip. It gave a dry, muffled scrape against the dark floorboards before swinging in an easy circle, slotting neatly between my front paws like a tiny, smooth anchor.
