A Soft Blue Night
My paws trotted slowly back through the door, tired from my afternoon stroll outside. The bedroom was dim and quiet. Over by the nightstand, a warm wool throw blanket had slipped off the mattress, pooling into soft, heavy folds on the rug. Right beside it, a digital bedside clock cast a faint, cool blue glow across the floor. I paused, taking in the hush. Slowly, I nestled my round belly into the deep woolen hollow. The fabric cradled my sides, shielding me from the draft. In the quiet darkness, the clock softly counted each second with an almost silent, steady thrum. I tucked my paws in close and let the stillness take over.
