A Textured Perimeter
The TV cabinet offered good angles, but the living room grew stale. I climbed down the drawer handles and marched into the kitchen. High tiles, cool air. I used the woven towel hung from a low handle to reach the main counter. Behind a heavy ceramic fruit bowl, I spotted a small, serrated metal bottle cap lying upside down. I nudged it with my boot. It held firm. Inside rested a tiny scrap of patterned floral washi tape, edge curling upward. I peeled it, smoothed the adhesive against my skirt hem, and slid the cap beside my boot. A solid outpost.
