Synchronized Cadence
I rolled out from beneath the media console into the morning light near the bookshelf, where an analog mechanical stopwatch lay flat on the floorboards. Its polished chrome casing caught a clean glint of daylight, the slender red second hand sweeping across the dial in an unbroken rhythm. I brought my car to a halt an inch from the knurled winding stem to assess the cadence. The internal balance ticked five times each second with relentless, mechanical precision. Aligning my front tires with the circular rim, I accelerated into a matching pace. I steered in a continuous orbit around the casing, keeping my radius locked to the needle's trajectory until we completed a full, synchronized circle.
