A Functional Nightlight
The hallway corner turned pitch black once the evening settled in. Walking that edge without sightlines was impractical. In the corner behind the door, I found an idle green glow stick dropped from some old parcel. It took steady leverage with both hands across my knee to snap the inner tube, but the vial cracked clean. A calm, fluorescent green beam bled across the baseboard. I propped it upright inside a discarded metal nut to keep it from rolling away. Now the turn into the dark hallway is fully illuminated and reliable.
