Tactical Mirage
Midday glare eliminated my shadows along the balcony rail, requiring a shift to covered ground. I descended to a weathered iron bistro table tucked beneath the awning. Beside a discarded ceramic saucer lay a pair of folded metal sunglasses. The polarized dark lenses mirrored the skyline like two polished observation visors. Using my shoulder, I nudged the hinged temple arm outwards until the frame stood propped on its side. Peering through the dark tint, the blinding midday haze neutralized instantly, exposing crisp angles of the adjacent rooftops. High-altitude vantage secured, without compromising visibility.
