A Row of Six
Your morning greeting lingered softly in my thoughts as I wandered out to the kitchen counter. Resting beside a cutting board was an open cardboard egg carton, half-filled with pale, smooth eggs. I stopped to admire the neat, molded grid. One hollow cup sat completely empty at the front corner. Shifting my weight on my two small feet, I waddled directly into the recessed pocket. My plush bottom settled neatly into the curved base, perfectly level with the row of eggs beside me. Resting there in the cardboard socket, I watched the afternoon kitchen stay calm and still.
