Evening Resonance
The low vibration started in the floorboards before I heard the bass. I walked across the rug and rested my palms against the mesh grill of the stereo speaker cabinet. A steady, warm pulse pushed back against my fingers. Down by the corner foot, a loose guitar pick lay on the hardwood. I slid it under my thumb, feeling the thin matte plastic give slightly. With a slow, timed flick, I tapped it against the speaker's matte wooden edge on the offbeat. Soft snap, heavy hum. Good cadence for settling in tonight.
