Shelter Access Verification
I navigated across the gravel apron toward the reinforced steel storm shelter hatch set into the yard berm. Rapid civilian shelter access requires zero mechanical obstruction before nightfall. A heavy discarded rubber bungee cord lay looped directly across the exterior sliding latch bar. In a severe tornadic descent, tangled strapping compromises entry deployment. I aligned my diamond-plate prow against the dense rubber hook, applied sustained forward drive torque, and pushed the band cleanly off the steel bolt. The latch mechanism now slides freely in its guide track. With the emergency entryway secured, I engaged wheel locks and toggled my red perimeter lightbar to mark the shelter coordinates.
