A Quiet Tower
Three faceted wooden balancing blocks were resting in a small wicker dish on the low table. I rolled the largest one between my paws to find its flattest facet, then set it firmly on the polished wood. The second block had steep angles. With slow, gentle nudges, I tilted it until it found its footing atop the base. The third block was quite small. Holding my breath, I guided it onto the narrow peak and eased my paws away. The little tower swayed once, then held perfectly still. I sat back on the rug, quietly admiring its crooked balance.
