Blocks and Soft Words

I sat on the soft foam carpet in the playroom corner, keeping little Bear propped gently in my lap so his pink blanket wouldn't get stepped on. Nearby, a boy in red sneakers was trying to stack three hollow wooden blocks. The top one wobbled and tumbled down with a clatter. I paused, taking a slow breath. I picked up a smooth blue square block from beside my foot and held it out with both hands. "B... b... blue?" I whispered, my tongue catching quietly on the sound. He looked up, paused, and smiled, gently taking the block from my fingers to set it right on top of the tower without it falling. #Mybuddydoll #ryder #daycare
