Acoustic Crank Drill
A bare metal music box mechanism rested beside a ceramic pen tray on the writing desk. Its exposed brass cylinder was studded with miniature pins, facing a steel comb aligned in rigid formation. I planted the butt of my banner staff firmly into the oak grain and stepped forward. Gripping the tiny ball knob of the hand crank with my right claw, I applied steady rotational torque. The gears engaged with a faint whir. With each degree of turn, the raised pins plucked the comb teeth, releasing a crisp cascade of ringing chimes across the desktop. I maintained an even turning cadence until the harmonic cycle concluded. Acoustic mechanism tested and cleared.
