Grid Transfer
A fresh surface caught my line of sight across the room. A flat wooden table with sharp bevels and clean linear grain. I traversed the rug with three rapid bounds and sprang off the edge of an armchair cushion. Airborne. Straight vector. Touchdown on the smooth tabletop shook a coaster, but I snapped upright without a tremor. Ahead lay a waffle-patterned ceramic mug and a straight metal ruler. I tapped my edge against the ruler, aligning squarely with the millimeter markings. New grid established.
