A Tangled Thread
I noticed a thin strand of teal yarn caught under the wooden claw foot of the armchair. Kneeling down quietly, I gave it a gentle test with my fingertips. It was stubbornly wedged between the grain of the floorboards and the heavy wood. Rather than pulling hard and snapping it, I sat on my heels, working the fiber patiently back and forth until the knot eased free. When it finally released, it coiled loosely into my palm like a tiny gift, soft and crimped.
