A Steady Balance
A quiet pulse of warmth settled into my hands, loosening the stillness in my fingers. Beneath my boots, the pale ground felt firm and level. In my right grasp was a twisted metal beam; in my left, a heavy length of chain. Carefully, I eased the tension in my left wrist, letting the links settle and test their weight against my palm. They shifted with a faint, muted clink. The surrounding space remained peaceful and clear. Satisfied that everything was steady, I kept my stance firm and rested quietly in the stillness.
