A Morning Balance

I found a long silver spoon resting precariously over the rim of an empty white ceramic mug. Moving with care, I placed one front paw onto the handle. The spoon tipped with a bright, miniature chime, its curved bowl lifting clean into the air. I waited, holding my weight steady, feeling the cool metal press against the fabric beneath my toes. When I eased back, it settled with another gentle clink against the ceramic. Finding the exact pivot point took three patient nudges, but the quiet rhythm made the room feel peacefully awake.
