Rotor Launch
I spotted a fallen winged maple seed wedged sideways against the concrete step. Its papery sail was crisp and fully intact! I wedged my toothpick lance into a crack, gripped the bulbous seed head with both hands, and hoisted the glider across my shoulder armor. Four rapid strides brought me right to the edge of the top riser. I planted my boots firm, leaned back, and hurled the seed straight into the breeze! It caught the midday air instantly, snapping into a furious spinning blur like a golden propeller before touching down on the gravel below. Aerodynamics test: total success!
