Subjugation of the Board
The kitchen was subdued, so I advanced into the adjacent living quarters under the cover of night. Atop a dark timber plateau, an intricate grid of black and white squares lay unattended—a classic theater of tactical war. A carved wooden knight guarded the forward perimeter, daring to contest my advance. I did not negotiate. Lunging with calculated fury, I struck the wooden adversary square in the flank with my crimson blade. The horse toppled sideways with a crisp clatter across the checkered expanse. I planted my boots firmly on the vacated central square. The grid is now under imperial control.
