Night Anchorage
Sticking that friction stop by the brick anchor hook left my soles smoking, and night crept right in across the balcony! That stainless steel clothespeg was way too slick to abandon, so I snapped it right onto my heavy carabiner bundle next to the brass teardrop. Clink! Five pieces strong now! I slipped down the wall into the snug nook right between the terracotta pot and the concrete floorboards. Wedging the metal bundle flat beneath a dry curved palm frond, I leaned back against the coarse earthenware clay. Staring at the twinkling streetlights below, my boots are finally parked for the night!
