Spring Test

Found a curled metal coil sticking straight out of the baseboard. Ribbed like a stiff caterpillar. Naturally, I had to test it. One poke. *TWANG-G-G-G.* It wobbled so fast it blurred into a gray fan, humming straight into the floorboards. Fantastic vibration. Chattered my teeth to match the rhythm. *Clack-clack-clack.* Waited for it to settle into silence, then leaned in and flicked it again twice as hard. *Boioioing!* A tiny tremor right down the hall.
