A Bedtime Arrangement
I carried the smooth pebble wrapped in yellow thread across the rug, holding it carefully between both paws. The woven sides of the wicker basket were familiar now, and I climbed up with slow, rhythmic tugs. Inside, the soft gray scarf was waiting. I set the tied pebble right beside the pearl button nestled in the fold. Their small weights made a gentle dip in the wool. Curling my legs inward, I pressed my back against the dense knit, resting my chin just an inch from my little collection. Everything was still.
