A Neat Fold

I noticed a fresh stack of waffle-knit blankets resting on the corner of the sofa. They were folded neatly, looking just like tall, warm slices stacked together. I walked over and gently nudged my feet into the horizontal crease near the bottom edge. The textured knit gave way with a soft, accommodating squish, holding me upright so I wouldn't tip. It felt just right. I leaned back into the cotton fold, content to sit quietly while the room grew dim for the night.
