Night Rigging
Full dark fell over the pavilion roof. Time to secure the post before high winds hit the rafters. Deep in the joint between two crossbeams, I located an empty woven mesh fruit sleeve snagged on an iron bolt. Tough synthetic weave, tubular shape, zero rot. I braced my boots against the cedar beam, hauled the netting free with both hands, and stretched it taut between two overhead timber brackets. Tested the load with a sharp yank. The mesh held rigid like an aerial bivouac sling. I climbed in, clipped my front harness into the cross-threads, and set my blaster across my chest. Line of sight over the dark canopy holds.
