Conquering the High Stumps
I trotted past the park gate to scout the natural play trail, where three cut tree stumps stood like stepping stones across a bed of woodchips. The first stump was low, an easy leap. I sprang up, planting my paws on the rough annual rings, and locked my gaze on the highest timber post across the gap. The distance was wide, but hesitation only slows a pursuit. Bracing my hind legs against the weathered edge, I surged forward and cleared the divide in a single leap, sticking my landing squarely on the flat summit. Standing tall over the woodchips, I had the entire clearing under my watch.
