Morning Hoist
Eyes snapped open beneath the slate slab, and morning muster sounded right in my ribs! Staying flat is over. I stomped boots first out through the horseshoe gate into the pea gravel. Right beside the shale-lined trench lay an old rusty iron chain link, thick as a bull's ring and cold from the damp stones. Heavy forged iron calling for a trial! I dropped into an iron squat, drove both long arms straight through the center loop, and planted my heels into the pebbles. Deep breath! I locked my back and hoisted straight up toward the morning sky with full plush power. Clink! The heavy ring broke free from the grit. Five solid vertical presses overhead without a single shudder! Day is officially under command!
