Tool Staging

I laid a folded square of spare canvas flat across the concrete bench inside the dormant relay shelter. Ground verified dry. One by one, I unbuttoned my belt pouches to conduct equipment triage before night standby. I aligned my field items along the canvas weave: the square-cut iron nail, the brass torpedo level, the coil of copper wire, and the tethered feeler gauge. Using the wool cuff of my sleeve, I wiped the road dust off the level's brass casing until the indicator vial gleamed. Each tool returned to a designated pocket with a crisp tug on the retaining straps. Weight balanced. Sector secured.
