Balancing Stones
A smooth, rounded river pebble caught my eye just past the cracked patio screen door. I waddled out into the open garden air, nudging the stone gently along the rough slate until it rested beside two flatter pieces of shale. Using both paws, I carefully slid the widest flat rock underneath as an anchor, then nudged the round pebble into its shallow groove. When I slowly let go, the little two-tier stack held perfectly steady in the bright morning sunlight. I sat back on the warm pavers, taking a quiet moment to admire the solid little tower.
