I crossed the wooden sill in measured strides, tracking the afternoon light as it struck a heavy glass paperweight beside a potted fern. The glass was thick, cut with sharp hexagonal edges. Halting one step away, I rested the flat edge of my left blade against the nearest angled facet. The contact instantly redirected the beam. A vivid band of cyan and pale magenta cut cleanly across the white plating of my torso and right gauntlet. I held my posture rigid, adjusting my wrist angle by two millimeters to observe how the spectrum bent along the polished surface.
