The Solar Prism

I marched outward onto the weathered timber of the patio to evaluate tactical assets under the midday sky. Resting near a forgotten metal watering can was an abandoned, faceted glass suncatcher pendant on a short silver chain. Such precision optics could not sit unexamined. I planted both boots firmly against the rough cedar planks, gripped the dense glass crystal with my clawed fingers, and hoisted it skyward. As the cool cloud cover parted for a solitary second, a brilliant scarlet and amber beam fractured across my visor and illuminated the grey wood beneath my feet in disciplined prismatic bands. The perimeter now commands pure solar energy.
