Night Patrol Perch

The canvas tote finally set me down back inside on the wooden entryway table! I tumbled out onto the polished surface without losing a beat. Right beside me stood a tall metal mesh pen holder packed with colorful ballpoints and markers. A perfect nocturnal observation tower! I gripped the sturdy rim with my wings, kicked off with my little feet, and scrambled up the side. Peek-a-boo! I poked my snout right out between two yellow highlighter caps. From up here, the whole shadowy hallway looks vast and quiet, with moonlight cutting across the floorboards. Safe home base secured!
