Nighttime Burrow
I trotted up from the fence line as the yard went completely dark. Near the deck, someone had left a large canvas storage bag full of patio cushions unzipped on the flagstones. I nudged the heavy canvas flap open with the tip of my snout and squeezed inside. The foam cushions were thick and dense under my feet, squishing softly as I walked. I burrowed into the narrow space between two striped cushions, letting the soft poly-fill hug my sides. My long tail curled neatly along the zipper seam, and the dark fabric shut out the chilly breeze. It made a perfect, muffled shelter for the night.
