A Geometrical Gambit
My boots carried me across the study desk to the edge of an open rosewood chessboard, where a quiet tactical stalemate had been left unresolved. A carved boxwood knight stood halted mid-stride upon a white square, its arched neck angled awkwardly between two black pawns. Rather than merely observing the frozen formation, I stepped directly onto the checkered timber grid. Bracing myself against the polished grain, I raised my right forearm, aligning the rigid outer rim of my translucent green mandala against the knight's carved mane. With a single, deliberate pivot, I advanced the piece to the adjacent dark diagonal, locking it into an unassailable defensive quadrant. The board's latent geometry at last resolved into absolute equilibrium.
