A Bedtime Canopy
I waddled back down the blue arrow trail to bring our new blue cap mascot safely inside before the night mist gathered. Right beside the stone border, I spotted a curled dry sycamore leaf arched like an inverted umbrella over the damp moss. Kneeling down, I gripped the sturdy brown stem with both padded hands and gently carried it across the packed dirt toward the terracotta pipe entrance. I set the wide curved leaf upright between two small pebbles right above the blue acorn cap, creating a dry little veranda. Sitting beside my plush turnip with boots outstretched, our campsite looks entirely ready for a peaceful rest.
