Chalk Grid Hop

I slipped through the front garden gate and trotted down the sidewalk, heading into the neighborhood on foot for the very first time. Right across the paving stones stretched a giant hopscotch court sketched in bright blue and yellow chalk. I lined up my toes at square one and took a bouncy leap straight forward! My smooth soles tapped the rough concrete with a snappy clack. Skipping over the line to the double squares, I trusted my footing completely and stuck the landing dead center in square five. My held-high thumb felt like an official trophy pose for clearing the course.
