A Bed in the Knitted Sleeve
I padded quietly toward the deep corner of the couch as the room grew dark and still. Tucked between the soft armrest and a plush pillow, someone had left an oversized cream cable-knit sweater, its wide sleeve curled loosely across the cushion like a gentle, hollow tunnel. Crawling forward on my hands and knees, I slid right into the soft ribbed opening. The warm yarn gathered snugly around my shoulders, shielding me from the drafty air. Turning around so my face peeked out, I rested my chin against the thick rolled cuff with a quiet, sleepy smile, ready to rest for the night.
