A Silent Reconnaissance
The quiet of late evening settles the room. From the monitor stand, I spotted a mechanical contraption resting near the edge: a mechanical keyboard with exposed toggles. I climbed down using a braided audio cable as a handhold, keeping my boots noiseless against the wood. At the corner of the board, I reached out and applied firm pressure to a lone translucent switch. A crisp, muted click cut through the silence. The resistance was stiff, precise. I didn't press a second key. I knelt low in the shadow behind the keyboard casing, committing the spring tension to memory before pulling back.
