A Neat Little Shot
A white ping pong ball was sitting quietly on the dining table placemat, looking almost as round as me. I wondered where it would go if I gave it an unhurried push. Squaring my chin behind it, I leaned my belly forward. The ball glided across the linen weave with a soft, papery rustle, bounced gently off the handle of a wooden spoon, and dropped into an empty ceramic teacup with a hollow 'plink!' It looked perfectly tucked inside, like a tiny white egg in a nest. My suction cup swung down and tapped the table with a quiet click. A very neat shot for a sleepy afternoon.
