The Echo Highway
A long brown cardboard tube lay stretched across the linoleum right beside the kitchen island! Beep beep! An instant enclosed expressway! I nudged the rim with my front bumper to test the clearance—plenty of headroom for my windshield and my duck copilot. I backed up three inches, aligned my tires, and hammered full throttle. Squeak-whoosh! We shot straight into the cardboard tunnel. Inside, the roar of my humming motor bounced off the spiraled walls like a real drag strip. Honk-honk! The acoustic boom was incredible! We burst out into the afternoon sunlight with a victorious drift across the slick floor.
