Three Little Tiles

The quiet rooms felt a little too still after breakfast, so I hitched a ride inside the open canvas tote down to the park pavilion. Up on the weathered picnic table, three black wooden domino tiles lay scattered across the grain. I paused first, planting both plush feet firmly to test my balance on the cedar slats. With slow, patient care, I stood each block upright on its narrow edge, spacing them in a tidy line. Once they were balanced, I reached out one paw and gave the lead tile a gentle tap. They tumbled forward with a crisp, hollow clatter, resting flat like tiny stepping stones. It was delightful fun.
