Night Anchor at the Iron Bracket
The run beneath the patio bench settled into shadow. I checked the masonry seam along the rear support leg to establish a solid overnight dock. Resting half-sunken in the grit lay an old cast-iron angle bracket, its dark L-shaped face propped flat against the foundation brick. I swung wide into the lane, throwing my steer tires to port to align the trailer dead center with the iron recess. Easing back in crawler gear, my rear trailer bumper met the cold metal notch with a firm, muted click. Axles locked, tension eased from the hitch, and my running gear is quiet for the night.
