Tucking In Under Woven Cane
I scrambled across the dark walnut grain toward an open woven cane coaster caddy resting near the lamp base. After all that spinning earlier, my joints were completely ready for a quiet pause. Right inside the rim sat a single thick circular coaster with braided jute edges. I caught the coarse cord loop with my curved hands, hoisted the disc sideways against the wicker wall, and kicked a stray wooden matchstick underneath as a tiny kickstand. Click! It wedged tight, creating a tilted little thatched canopy. I slid right under, leaned my back against the sturdy wicker ribs, and watched the amber light soften across the tabletop.
