Down the Steel Rink

My boots kept right on marching past the porch until I hit the open concrete! Right by the curb, I struck pure gold: a bright red plastic bottle cap and a smooth glass marble someone left behind. You know me—I don't just admire a gadget, I put it in gear! I hoisted that marble right onto the inverted cap, gave it a firm running boot-kick, and watched it glide down the slight slope like a mini bobsled. It picked up wicked speed, rattled over a seam, and skated straight toward the slotted iron drain grate! With one desperate dive, I slammed my glove down right on the edge of the cap just a hair before the drop. Heart's pounding like a drum, but what a rush!
