Iron and Oak
Found a thick wedge of black cast iron blocking the threshold. Solid metal. No hollow trickery. I planted my boots, set my shoulder into the cold slope, and drove forward with full weight. The iron fought back, grinding over the oak boards with a sharp, heavy groan before sliding back an inch. Good resistance. Stood tall and checked the timber beneath my feet. A worthy anchor for this door.
